On our first day in Uganda we went to the CTC Conservation center. It is about two hours north of Kampala. They encompass sixty acres and do animal rescue and breeding. While we were there, we got to hold a van hornel chameleon and a egg eater snake. We saw hyenas, wild dogs, crocodiles, bush babies, servals, civets and genets. We fed giraffes, zebras and zonkeys (cross between a zebra and a donkey).
But the real highlight was petting an eight month old male lion. We spent about twenty minutes with it (our total touching time was probably about two minutes). The photo we got may be our best photo ever. It was truly magical.
But wait, there’s more! We also got to hold (well, they would just jump on us and sit on us), feed and pet ring tailed lemurs and black & white lemurs. Their paws were always gentle when they jumped on us and we never felt any claws. They were so cute!
