Rockin’ The Casbah. The Kasbah in Rabat, Morocco was built in the 12th century and houses about 3,000 people. It was originally a military fortress. The song doesn’t refer to the Kasbah as a place, but rather as the old order. Rockin’ the Casbah is about shaking up authority.

I thought surely (no, I’m not calling you Shirley) that there would be a Rockin’ the Casbah nightclub here. Or at least any nightclub here. But no, it’s just a maze of small streets packed wall-to-wall with 900 year old homes. It was neat to walk through though.
